Tour plans

Upon arrival at Bhubaneswar Airport or Railway Station, drive to Puri. If time permits, visit the Lingaraj Temple, constructed in 650 A.D. This temple is a prime example of Oriyan architecture and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was built in the 7th century by King Jajati Keshari.

Next, visit Dhauli, where a modern peace pagoda and ancient rock edicts commemorate Emperor Ashoka’s conversion to Buddhism. Dhauli, situated on the banks of the Daya River, is also known for the historic Kalinga War.

Continue to Pipli, an artist village renowned for its appliqué art. Local artisans cut colored cloth into shapes of animals, birds, flowers, leaves, and other motifs, which are then stitched onto fabric.

Arrive in Puri, check in to your hotel, and relax. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel in Puri.

After freshening up at the hotel, visit the world-famous Lord Jagannath Temple. This majestic temple in Puri is a significant pilgrimage destination for Hindus and is part of the “Char Dham” circuit. While known as the 'Jagannath Temple,' it is dedicated to more than just Jagannath. Originally built by the Kalinga ruler Anantavarman Chodaganga (1078-1148 CE), the current structure was largely completed by King Ananga Bhima Deva in 1174 CE, and consecrated in 1198 CE.

Next, drive to Satpada to explore Chilka Lake, India’s largest inland lake, covering 1,100 square kilometers. Book a motorboat ride at Chilka Lake (booking on a direct payment basis) and enjoy a scenic boat trip. This is a great opportunity to spot the rare Asiatic Irrawaddy Dolphins at the lake’s mouth, where it meets the Bay of Bengal.

After breakfast, embark on an excursion to Konark via Marine Drive. Along the way, visit several scenic spots including beautiful beaches, the Ramachandi Temple, and Chandrabhaga Beach.

Continue your journey to Konark to explore the Sun Temple, also known as the Chariot of the Sun God. Built by King Langula Narasingh Deva in the 13th century, this temple is renowned for its exquisite and intricate architecture and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The name 'Konark' combines 'Kona' (Corner) and 'Arka' (Sun), meaning 'Sun of the Corner,' reflecting its dedication to the Sun God. Constructed by 1,200 artisans over 12 years (1243-1255 A.D.), Rabindranath Tagore famously remarked, "Here the language of stone surpasses the language of man."

After visiting the temple, drive back to Puri. Spend your evening enjoying the local beach market and relaxing on the beach. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast this morning, check out from the hotel. Refresh yourself and then visit the Gundicha Temple, the temporary residence of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra during the Rath Yatra festival and Bahuda Yatra.

Next, head to Raghurajpur, located 12 km from Puri. This artisan village is a living museum, with every household showcasing traditional paintings on canvas, silk (tassar), and other materials.

Proceed to Sakhigopal, also known as Sakhigopal Satyabadi, which is renowned for its shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna.

After completing your sightseeing, you will be dropped off at Bhubaneswar Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey.
