Day 1 - Arrival At Bhubaneswar
Upon arrival at Bhubaneswar Airport or Railway Station, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel. Bhubaneswar, known as the "Temple City," was founded over 3,000 years ago during the Kalinga Empire and is renowned for its magnificent temples. Although it once had over 2,000 temples, more than 500 of India's finest temples still stand today. Start your exploration with visits to the Lingaraj Temple, Rajarani Temple, Brahmeshwar Temple, Mukteshwar Temple, and Parshurameswar Temple.
After breakfast, drive to Puri, stopping en route at Dhauli. Dhauli features a modern peace pagoda and ancient rock edicts commemorating Emperor Ashoka’s conversion to Buddhism. It is a sacred Buddhist site on the banks of the Daya River, known for the historic Kalinga War.
Next, visit Hirapur, located 15 km southeast of Bhubaneswar, on the eastern bank of the river Kuakhai. The Chausath Yogini Temple here is dedicated to 64 manifestations of the goddess Shakti.
After lunch, explore the Khandagiri and Udaygiri Caves. These age-old caves, carved by Jain monks in the 1st century BC, served as dwellings and meditation quarters and were built under King Kharavela of the Mahameghavahan dynasty.
Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2 - Bhubneswar –konark - Puri [100 Kms]
After breakfast, drive to Puri, making a stop at Dhauli along the way. Dhauli is a significant Buddhist site on the banks of the Daya River, known for its modern peace pagoda and ancient rock edicts that commemorate Emperor Ashoka's conversion to Buddhism. It is also the site of the historic Kalinga War.
Continue to Pipli, an artist village renowned for its appliqué art. Here, locals create intricate designs by cutting colored cloth into shapes of animals, birds, flowers, leaves, and various motifs, which are then stitched onto fabric.
Next, visit Konark to see the Sun Temple, also known as the Chariot of the Sun God. Built by King Langula Narasingh Deva in the 13th century, the name 'Konark' combines 'Kona' (Corner) and 'Arka' (Sun), translating to 'Sun of the Corner.' This temple is celebrated for its exquisite and intricate architecture and sculptures, and is also known as Arka Kshetra.
Return to Puri for an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 3 - Puri – Satpada - Puri
After freshening up at the hotel, visit the world-famous Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri. This majestic temple is a major pilgrimage destination for Hindus and is part of the “Char Dham” circuit. While the temple is commonly known as the Jagannath Temple, it is dedicated to more than just Jagannath. Originally built by the Kalinga ruler Anantavarman Chodaganga (1078-1148 CE), the present structure was largely constructed by King Ananga Bhima Deva in 1174 CE and consecrated in 1198 CE.
Following your temple visit, drive to Satpada to explore Chilka Lake. Book a motorboat ride (booking on a direct payment basis) and enjoy the day on India’s largest inland lake, spanning over 1,100 square kilometers. Take the opportunity to spot the rare Asiatic Irrawaddy Dolphins at the lake’s mouth, where it meets the Bay of Bengal.
Day 4 - Puri - Gopalpur(175 Km) Approx 5 Hour
After breakfast, drive to Gopalpur. Gopalpur Beach is renowned for its picturesque seashores and constant gentle breeze, which create a soothing and tranquil atmosphere. The serene environment of the beach is ideal for relaxation and health rejuvenation. You can also visit the historic lighthouse, built by the British, which offers a panoramic 360-degree view of the surrounding area. Additionally, take some time to explore the nearby fishing village to experience local life and culture.
Day 5 - Gopalpur
Enjoy a relaxing day at your leisure. If you're interested, you can explore the Berhampur market, visit Rambha at Chilka Lake, or take a trip to the Taratarini Hilltop Temple. The Taratarini Temple is a beautiful pilgrimage site set amidst scenic surroundings, offering both spiritual and visual delights.
Day 6 - Depart To Bhubaneswar
After breakfast this morning, check out from the hotel. You will be transferred to Bhubaneswar Railway Station for your onward journey.
